GLPI is a bilingual (French and English) training institute that offers high quality intensive courses on peacebuilding, conflict transformation, and trauma healing to peacebuilders coming from the African Great Lakes Region, especially Rwanda, Burundi, and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The peacebuilders are those who are involved in peacebuilding and conflict transformation which are done in different capacities, at different levels, and with different sectors and communities. Founded in 2004, GLPI offers several course modules and training sessions facilitated by a roster of experienced international faculty who have wide range of peacebuilding skills and experiences and who apply participatory, interactive, and creative teaching methods to stimulate meaningful learning and listening environments among the participants. GLPI envisions to make the African Great Lakes Region a space where a culture of sustainable, solidarity and harmonious development reigns. In order to achieve this vision, GLPI commits in a mission to bring the peacebuilders in the region closer together by strengthening their capacities, sharing best practices, and exchanging experiences through theoretical and practical courses in the spirit of building a supportive and active networks of change agents. Specifically, GLPI aims to realize the following objectives: • Promote high quality trainings for peacebuilders in the African Great Lakes Region; • Create platforms for exchanging and sharing experiences and ideas about peacebuilding in the region; and • Build a network of peacebuilders in the region.
